To help this special time of year, how about hosting a classy affair that celebrates the rich colors and delicious foods of Autumn.  You can invite a few friends to over to enjoy a crisp autumn evening while sipping a nice red wine and enjoying dishes made from the season.

Here are a few tips to help you throw the best Harvest Party so you can send out your invitations now.  You and your guests might have so much fun it might even become a yearly thing.

Find fresh and seasonal foods.  Chose menu items that are fresh, and the more local the better.  How about Smoky-Sweet Pork Tenderloin, Roasted Butternut Squash SoupHarvest Vegetables, and/or Roasted Grape Chutney, to name a few options.

Work with the colors of the season.  Chocolate brown, golden yellow, burnt orange, and red.   All you have to do is take a walk in your local neighborhood or park to know the colors that can help inspire your decor options.  If you’re feeling especially creative, you should try any of these ideas from Martha Stewart.

Offer great scents of the season.  Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Fall spices and more can make a welcoming aroma for you and your guests.  Perhaps you have a favorite mulled wine you can keep on the stovetop.  If not, try this one from Ina Garten.

Keep it casual.  While you may not want to set up a picnic in the woods, try to keep it casual and even a bit rustic.  Pumpkins, leaves, candles all make more natural elements in the home, (and yes, we know, candles may not be natural but they offer a lovely natural glow to any room).
